Finish Every Day....

I just came across an old poem from Ralph Waldo Emerson that really struck a chord with me today.

You see, I've just come back from vacation in Thailand to lots and lots of emails from my readers and from the members of the Magic Hundred Community telling me that they feel like they often let themselves down.

That they don't always achieve the goals they set for themselves.

That they made 'silly mistakes' that they should have known better than to fall for.

Well, you know what?

EVERYONE feels this way from time to time.

EVERYONE has days when they haven't accomplished what they set out to accomplish.

EVERYONE messes up.

EVERYONE.

But how we handle these days determines what they mean to our 'big picure' goals in life.

The unsuccessful person and the successful one handle them VERY differently.

The unsuccessful person dwells on the shoulda, woulda, coulda...

The unsuccessful person blames themself, punishes themself and brands themself a fool.

The unsuccessful person makes the experience a negative one.

But those destined for success do things very differently.

The successful people don't dwell on things, they learn and move on.

The successful people don't berate themselves, punish themselves or lay blame. They take responsibility but not blame.

The successful people know that shoulda, coulda woulda is in the past and unchangeable; they focus on 'next time I will...' and put their energies to the present and the future.

The successful people make the experience positive by labelling it 'learning'.

See, it's not difficult to go from failure to success is it?

Just change what your experiences mean to you... and EVERYTHING changes!

Read Emerson's poem below...

Finish every day and be done with it.

You have done what you could.
Some blunders and absurdities
no doubt have crept in;
forget them as soon as you can.

Tomorrow is a new day;
begin it well and serenely
and with too high a spirit
to be cumbered with
your old nonsense.

This day is all that is
good and fair.

It is too dear,
with its hopes and invitations,
to waste a moment on yesterdays

What are You Choosing?

Have you ever noticed how easy it is to say you’ll do something yet how difficult it can be to actually follow through with it?

For instance have you ever found yourself saying that you’d love to lose weight or get fit or change your dietary habits and yet almost immediately you drop back into your old patterns of behavior again?

It’s frustrating isn’t it?

I think that most of us can relate to the frustration of desiring certain outcomes in our lives and yet failing to achieve them, I mean, who hasn’t felt the disappointment of failure when circumstances conspire against us and knock us off track?

One of the main reasons that many people fail to achieve the things that they say are important to them is that they feel unworthy of their attainment. As strange as this may seem and in spite of the fact that most people would deny self-sabotage on their part, nevertheless it remains true that most, if not all failures are self-inflicted ‘wounds’.

If you’re a person that has built a belief system that puts the problem ‘out there’ then you’ll probably find yourself strongly disagreeing with the last paragraph. After all, if it wasn’t because of work, money, time, the kids, your hormones or [insert excuse here] then you’d have the figure you always wanted and the life you’ve always dreamed for yourself wouldn’t you? Or would you?

It’s really easy to absolve ourselves of the responsibility for our lives and blame external circumstances for our failings and yet when it all boils down there really is no question that it is us and us alone that bear the responsibility for creating and owning the lives and bodies that we desire.

Maybe you think it’s work, money, time or something else keeping you from achieving what you’ve always wanted to attain, yet in reality it is something entirely different that holds the key to your successes or failures in reaching your goals.

Our view of ourselves and how we interact with the world around us is merely a result of the programming that we have received all of our lives. Whether we believe that we are good, bad or mediocre at any task that confronts us is a direct result of this programming and results in the most powerful of all forces available to us; our self concept.

The self-concept has been described as ‘The Master Programme’ of all human behaviour, and rightly so. So powerful is this aspect of our mental programming that the very way that we see the world, ourselves and the actions of others is quite literally filtered through its three-tiered filtration system.

The first tier, the self-ideal, refers to the standards that we have set for ourselves. We all have some idea about how we should look, how much we should weigh, how we should walk, talk, act and behave yet how many of us can state clearly what those ideals are?

Lack of specific focus and clarity in defining who we want to be lies at the heart of failure to achieve happiness with ourselves. You could liken it to setting out on a journey without having a destination, how would you ever know if you’ve arrived? By what standard would you judge your progress?

Those who are positive about their appearance and abilities in life have very definite ideals that they estimate their progress by. If they’re behind schedule they simply put in more work until they’re back on track.

What’s your self-ideal? If you don’t know then it’s time to think about it…Now!

• What does the ideal you look like?
• What does the ideal you weigh?
• How does the ideal you behave?
• How does the ideal you communicate?
• Who does the ideal you associate with?
• What does the ideal you think about?

Fill in as many blanks as you can. Create the best definition of your ideal you as you can. Then and only then will you ever get close to attaining it.

The second tier of your self-concept is known as your self-image. This is how you actually see yourself right now. If you see yourself as fat, unfit, ugly or in any other negative way then you will filter your life in order to show you evidence of what you believe. Every time you see yourself in the mirror you will see only these negative aspects of yourself.

Yet, despite the often vicious and unforgiving aspects of our inner-critic, it’s a relatively simple process to counteract its negativity. Just taking time out to logically question the validity of the criticisms offered often leads to an improved self-image.

For example;

• Has anyone ever complimented you on your appearance or ability?
• Are there areas of your life where your knowledge, skills and abilities are superior to those around you?

For most of us these questions, when answered honestly, will produce an affirmative response that can be used to build a foundation for other positive self-images. After all, if we’re positive and capable in only one area of our lives then we have a model of success to copy from into other aspects of our lives. All we have to do is figure out what makes us good in that area.

The answer will always include BELIEF.

The Third tier of our self-concept is self-esteem. This is how we feel about ourselves. How we estimate our value, if you will.

If you have a low self-esteem you will see yourself as being of both low intrinsic and extrinsic value to yourself and those around you. You will usually have a negative mindset where the ‘out there’ world is both better than you and conspiring against you at the same time. In short, you’ll blame your lack of success in your life, your diet and your fitness regime as being the result of others and ‘circumstances beyond your control’. After all, it’s not your fault that you don’t have enough money, time or energy to keep fit and stick to your diet is it? You’re trying your best aren’t you?

Yet honestly, do you really need lots of time or money to get fit, lose weight and develop the body and life that you’ve always wanted? If you valued yourself, you’d find a way even without these resources. Others have and so could you if you really wanted to.

Forget the justifications and rationalisations that you normally use to shift the responsibility that you have for your own life. They’re all nothing but excuses. All of them. Within you lies an unlimited source of power than can literally transform your appearance, abilities and very life if you only choose to tap into it.

The key is responsibility. The ability to choose the appropriate response to whatever life offers up to you. This starts within. You need to choose it. It doesn’t just happen.

What are you choosing for your life right now? Success and happiness or failure and desperation?

Choose well!

What Has Dax Moy Half Naked In The Jungle Got To Do With Goals?

As the author of The MAGIC Hundred, I'm often asked how much of my own material I live by, how much I incorporate adventure, health, finance, relationship, education and other goals into my life.

In other words, people want to know "Do you walk your talk?"

Well, watch this video that I shot in the middle of a Thailand Jungle and decide for yourself : )

I reckon I do... what are YOUR thought? : )

My Creed Video

I received so many emails this morning about my 'Creed' article that I've turned it into a video with music and images for my readers.

I hope it gives you some great ideas for developing your own Creed.

Dax's Creed Workshop

Well, it's been a little while since I last wrote as I've been away with my family on a wonderful vacation to beautiful Bali in Indonesia as part of my latest MAGIC Hundred quest.

We had a great time and whilst we were there I managed to do a fair bit of writing (including several new chapters of the MAGIC Hundred) - yes, I know it's taking me a while but I'm working on FOUR books right now : ) -

In one of the new sections I write about something that I did ages ago and that has been really important to me over the years and yet, somehow, I managed to omit from the original version of the book.

I call it a 'creed workshop'.

The word 'creed' as you probably know, comes from the latin word 'credo' meaning 'I believe' and can best be described as a statement of faith and belief.

I was first introduced to the concept of Creed development as a young soldier when I joined the airborne forces. They had a very strong sense of identity, pride, honour and code of conduct for the standards they set for themselves and demanded that all who join 'the brotherhood' knew, understood and embraced it too.

Over the years I created a creed of my own, full of the standards I was committed to living my life to. It has helped me steer a clear and (relatively) straight path through most of my life as well as helped pull me back on track whenever I've gotten 'lost'.

I've written up my most recent amendment to my original creed below as an example, but strongly suggest that you go through your own creed workshop and commit to carrying your written copy with you and reading it as many times a day as you read your goals.

I think you'll be stunned by the clarity, focus and purpose it gives you.

Dax's Creed

I will honor my word like the fate of
humanity rested on it and vow to
be truthful to myself and others
at all times... even when it's
difficult or unprofitable to do so.

I will live my life as one as full of joy
and happiness as I'm capable of
creating and experiencing in every day,
hour and minute.

I will dedicate myself to becoming a
being of positivity,love and creation
rather thanone of negativity, fear and
destruction.

I will commit to suspending disbelief,
even when I find the act of believing
impossible.

I will help others by developing and
using as much personal power as
possible for myself and using it in
ways to help others find and develop
their own.

I will demand excellence from myself
in all things and at all times and forgive
myself my own fallibility when I find
performing at a less-than-excellent
level.

I will help others to demand and
achieve excellence for themselves
too and extend them the same
compassion when they fall short.

I will not fear failure but instead commit
to advancing in the direction of my dreams
in the full knowledge that, by definition, each
failure MUST hold the equivalent seeds of
success also.

I will get up every time I fall, safe in the
knowledge that it is not falling that makes
me a failure... but staying down.

I will get everything that I De -Serve as a
result of the service I give to others. Knowing
this, I will devote each day to delivering as
much service as I can.

I will dare something worthy each day that I live
so that my life will be 'worth something' to each
person that I come into contact with.

I will remind myself as often as I can that
I AM POWERFUL BEYOND MEASURE!

Dumb Idea or Million Dollar Magnet?

Ever had one of those million-dollar ideas?

You know, the kind of lightbulb-over-the-head ideas that you just know without a shadow of a doubt will change not only your life but also the lives of everyone you share it with?

And yes, as its name suggests, will net you millions upon millions of dollars as your ‘just reward’ for being the clever-clogs who was bright enough to think of the idea in the first place.

I’m sure you have.

After all, we’ve all had these ideas haven’t we?

Maybe for you it was an idea for a book that would solve a pressing problem face by the masses.

Maybe it was a script for a play or a movie that would entertain and educate an entire generation of people on an area of life that you felt strongly about.

Maybe it was an idea for new invention or some new technological widget that would change the entire face of industry for the entire planet.

Maybe it was none of these things.

Maybe it was all three!

Regardless of the specifics though, I’m pretty certain that you, like everyone else I’ve ever spoken to, have experienced ‘million dollar idea syndrome’ at some point or another and said to yourself “Wow! This could change EVERYTHING!” right?

And then what?

I mean, what happened next?

Did you wake up one morning a year or so later in the home of your dreams with a bigger bank account and a book, film widget or invention accredited to you or did something else happen?

Did you find that shortly after thinking about your million dollar idea that you, like many others, relegated it to ‘dumb idea’ status?

Did you find that, rather than it being as simple or as straightforward as it seemed when you first thought of it, that it had now seemed far more complex and full of problematic barriers and obstacles that are, at least to you, bigger problems than you’re capable of solving?

If you answered ‘yes’ to the above questions and, as a result, chose not to pursue your million-dollar idea then you’re definitely not alone. In fact, most great ideas end up in the trash, unactioned and unused by those who originally thought of them.

Then a funny thing happens (Though not funny when it happens to you).

Some time after you’ve discarded your ‘dumb idea’, maybe a month, maybe a year or maybe even 10 years later, you see your idea brought to life by someone else.

Not just ‘like’ your idea but exactly the same in every single detail.

And not only is that person using your idea, THEY are making millions from it!

Ever had this happen?

I certainly have!

In fact, I’ve lost track of the number of million-dollar-ideas that I’ve had ‘stolen’ over the years as a result of my inaction yet, as I watched each one brought to life by someone else, I learned a little bit more about how to make sure that my ideas and the wealth they create could remain mine rather than being credited to someone else.

I’m now at the point where not only do I have million-dollar-ideas on a regular basis but that each of those ideas actually puts money into my bank account rather than someone else’s.

Want to know how you can experience this for yourself?

Ready to learn the number one ‘secret’ for generating success in pretty much ANY are of your life faster than most people would ever believe?

It can be summed up in one single, solitary sentence.

Ready?

The energy is NOT in the idea; it’s in the execution.

Read that again, it’s important.

The energy is NOT in the idea; it’s in the execution.

Not what you wanted to hear was it?

You wanted a ‘secret’ or ‘magic pill’ that would miraculously bring your ideas to life didn’t you?

Well, I just gave you the ONLY true secret (though it’s not a secret at all!) to making your ideas into millions.

The energy is NOT in the idea; it’s in the execution.

Thinking of writing that book or that play or that movie won’t get it written. Only the physical act of writing your thoughts onto a sheet of paper, even if only one page a day, will bring your idea to life.

Thinking of creating your new ‘super-widget’ won’t get it built. Only the physical act of writing down your ideas, drawing your sketches and having a prototype made will bring it to life.

Thinking of new and powerful ways to end disease, bring about world peace or making people happier won’t change a single thing for anyone. Only action can accomplish any of this.

So, again we have confirmation that the energy is NOT in the idea; it’s in the execution of that idea.

It’s about taking action.

So, next time you’re tempted to dump your ‘dumb idea’ in the trash, don’t.

Instead, commit to taking one single, solitary action step toward bringing it to life.

When you’ve done that, commit to one more and then another and then another still.

When, and only when, you do this does the ‘magic’ happen and you’ll finally see your million-dollar-idea come to life.

Will it ALWAYS work to generate your million dollars?

Of course not! I’d be a liar if I said it would and besides, you wouldn’t believe me.

But I do know this; commitment to executing your ideas is the ONLY way to even come close to becoming successful and is a far surer bet than any other way you can think of!

Change....

"What most fundamentally characterizes the well-adjusted, or highly sane person is not chiefly the particular habits or attitudes that he holds, but rather the deftness with which he modifies them in response to changing circumstances." - Wendell Johnson

What a great quote, huh?

Really makes you think about all those times when you've hoped, wished and dreamed that thing in your life would change for the better and yet prevented the very same from happening by failing to change the way you're approaching life doesn't it?

(Well, it does for me anyway!)

Think about it; how many times in your life have you said to yourself "Things have GOT TO change! I can't live like this anymore!" and then gone right out and done the things you've always done in the exact same way you've always done them?

Come on, be honest!

Well, you can change all that today you know.

You really can.

And it's simple too.

Just do 1 thing differently to the way you normally do it.

Drive another route home.

Leave work an hour earlier.

Stay an hour later.

Take a day off.

Read a book.

Take the kids to a movie.

Send flowers.

Call your parents.

Look, it really doesn't matter what you do but do it differently and the change begins.

And once it does, wow!

Don't believe me?

Just try changing something in your life today then tell me what difference it made over at the new Magic Hundred community at
www.themagichundred.ning.com

I'll see you there!

Dax
