This is an oldie but goodie from my archive... felt like many people needed this today : )
Over the last 4 years my family and I have done a huge amount of travel throughout South East Asia where we’ve been priviledged enough to enjoy some of the world’s most beautiful and inspiring surroundings whilst sharing real quality time together as a family.
These times are always amongst my favourite times of the year, reminding me of what I work so hard for the rest of the time… to learn, explore and discover with my family.
On a recent trip, I took my family to the Chiang Mai region in Northern Thailand, where mountains, jungle and amazing rivers combine to create a fantastic backdrop of colours, sights and sounds.
A true feast for the senses!
While we were there, we took an elephant jungle trek tour that allowed us an ‘elephants’ eye view of the jungle as we waded rivers, climbed hills and descended into deep valleys and gullies.
It was an amazing experience to see my children first fearful, then a little more relaxed and then outright excited and thrilled to be privileged enough to share this experience with the largest land mammal on the planet.
During one of our short stops to feed and reward the elephants with a handful of bananas and sugar cane, I noticed that the Mahout(elephant handler) simply popped a small rope on a stick into the ground and tied the elephant to it and walked off, leaving us on the elephant alone.
As I looked at the stick I wondered what foolishness must be going through this little man’s mind.
I mean, here we were, sitting on this huge mountain of muscle and raw power and the little fellow had hitched the thing to a really thin piece of rope that was tied to a stick no thicker than my thumb!
I fully expected the elephant to (in elephant-speak) laugh at this puny little thing, pull it out of the ground and walk off with my son Connor and I into the jungle never to be seen again.
But that didn’t happen.
The elephant didn’t walk off.
It didn’t even TRY to pull the stick from the ground.
It stayed exactly where it was waiting to be ‘released’ from its bondage.
When I got back to the camp, I asked the mahout about this and he explained a concept that had totally blown me away at the time, and still does to this day.
He told me “We train the elephants when they are very young by using thicker ropes and heavy beams or tree trunks. When the young elephant pulls, it is pulling against an immovable object and so soon tires and gives up.
Eventually, over a short time (and several smaller trees and sticks), the elephant stops pulling altogether, believing that the attempt is futile and will always end in failure.
It merely gives up.”
As a performance coach I couldn’t help thinking of many clients I’d worked with who were doing exactly the same thing in their lives.
People who were trained when young about what was possible and what was not when they were too weak to pull against these ideas and release themselves to being successful.
Now they’re all grown up, they’re like the elephant, unwilling to try because they’re so sure it’ll end in failure that they don’t even bother.
It made me think about about all the times I’d quit in the past and all of the people who write in to tell me of their own decision to do the same.
Everyone’s got goals, dreams and aspirations that they’ve have left by the wayside because some well-meaning friend or loved one told them ‘would only end in heartache and failure, so why bother?’ right?
Dreams that someone said were ‘silly’ or ‘childish’ or ‘unrealistic’.
But what if they’re not any of these things?
What if, just like this big, beautiful yet dumb creature we’ve have been conditioned to believe something that is totally and utterly untrue?
What if, just like the elephant, we could literally rip up the chains that are holding us down and walk off into our own jungle of success and happiness...if only we had the courage to pull, and keep on pulling in order to bring about the things we want?
We can you know!
Many, many people who once led lives of total and utter desperation now live lives that most of us would consider pure fantasy with houses, planes, boats, cars, money and above all, happiness that would never have been theirs if they hadn’t ‘pulled against the rope’ that was telling them they couldn’t possibly win.
You CAN, but will you?
Will you write that book that the small voice inside of you tells you that no-one will ever read?
Will you take that trip to those places you always dreamed of but that your wallet tells you that you can’t afford?
Will you finally lose that weight or shift that body fat that your ‘slow metabolism’ insists won’t go?
Will you buy that house, start that business, learn that language.....?
I could go on all day, but in the end, when all’s said and done, it’s you and ONLY you who can pull the stick from the ground and break free.
No-one is going to do it for you.
No-one CAN do it for you.
You, and only you have the power to do this.
Start TODAY!
(Please don’t send me any hate mail. I am not an elephant hater. On the contrary, I love and respect them. ‘Dumb’ only refers to their inability to recognise and use the awesome power that they have, yet aren’t using. : )

Become A Different You If You Want To Achieve Your Goals
Most people don't get the 'different you' concept.
They think I'm nuts when I explain it to them but nonetheless it exists.
In fact, it exists to such a degree that if you ignore it or fail to take action on it, you'll be doomed to a life exactly like you've got right now. Right this minute.
What's the Different You Rule?
It simply states that what you're getting out of life right now is the result of the thoughts you've thought. the words you've spoken and the actions you've taken up to this point.
In other words, the YOU that you've become.
It also states that, if you're not happy with the results you're currently experiencing, that the only way to change things is to become a different you.
It's cause and effect.
And it crosses EVERY single area of your life from health, to wealth to happiness and beyond.
But today let's look at wealth.
How much are you currently earning from your business or job?
Whatever the number, good or bad, you're not earning that because of the environment, the economy or any other external reason that many of us like to blame.
You're earning it because of who YOU are, right now, this minute!
Stands to reason then, that if that number is lower than what you want from life, that YOU need to become someone else, someone more than who you are right now.
In fact, I believe that every single rung of the income ladder requires that you become a different you.
You need to be a different you to go from $20,000 to $40,000.
You need to be a different you to go from $40,000 to $80,000.
And you DEFINITELY need to be a VERY different you to go from $100,000 to $1,000,000!
It's a shame more people don't 'get' this.
They think that the techniques and strategies they used to to get from $20,000 to $40,000 will work to get them all the way to $100,000.
They won't.
They can't!
At $20,000 the YOU that you are is thinking very differently. The YOU that you are is thinking of how to accomplish $40,000. The YOU that you are is taking the actions and the risks equal to the task of achieving $40,000.
But that YOU isn't ready for $100,000...
...Yet!
Oh, that YOU thinks you are but you're not.
In fact, if you insist on remaining the $40,000 YOU whilst trying to get to $100,000 you'll fail.
You'll have a good month, you'll have a bad month.
You'll sell a few ebooks, then it'll stop selling.
You'll get a better job then lose it or stagnate in your new position for years.
No doubt about it, trying to earn $100,000 whislt being a $40,000 you is one step forward, two steps back.
And it's frustrating as hell!
I know.
I resisted growing into the me I had to be in order to break the six-figure barrier and I experienced the success/failure two-step over and over again.
I wasted time, I wasted money, I wasted energy and I wasted passion on watching my ideas do 'so-so' when, on paper at least, they should have been stunning successes.
Then I hit on the Different You Rule and everything changed... almost overnight!
I realised that the different me I had to be had to risk failure more often (I'd been playing it safe).
I realised that the different me had to think bigger (I'd been thinking small - even though it didn't feel like it at the time)
I realised that the different me had to invest in my future (Up til then I'd considered many things to be expenses rather than investments).
And most of all, I realised that the different me needed a mentor to coach and guide me (Up to then I'd done the whole loner 'thing' and thought that success and failure were down to me alone).
I don't know what YOU you need to be, only you can answer that, but whatever it is, there's no doubt that you need to be more than you are now.
Now, it's up to you what you're going to do about becoming that YOU but whatever it is, I suggest you stop 'thinking about it' and get to it. After all, every day you're not working toward being the YOU who has the house, the car, the business, the lifestyle, the travel the adventure and the relationships you truly want, is another day where you're actively choosing to keep things exactly as they are.
If you're happy with thing as they are then fine, do nothing.
If not... then hustle!
To the successful YOU I know you can be!

It's Not Too Late
I've gotten a bunch of emails over the last week from
everyone who started the MAGIC Hundred on the 22nd
marking the last 100 days of 2008.
As you'll recall, the idea is to finish the year strong,
push hard, drive onward and upward and, well,
simply achieve more than most people are willing
to believe possible.
Well, we had literally HUNDREDS of new people join the
challenge on the 22nd BUT it appears that lots of people
for whatever reason didn't hear about it.
Not only didn't they hear about it in time, but many people
who have since gone on to find out about it are kicking
themselves because they think it's too late.
Well, look, it's not!
It's not too late to join the program and achieve some
great goals before the end of 2008.
So what if your 100 days overrun the end of the year?
It just means that you get a head start on 2009 right? : )
So look, if you're even considering joining the program,
everyone who started the MAGIC Hundred on the 22nd
marking the last 100 days of 2008.

You'll still get the program, the audios, the workbooks
the MAGIC Hundred software and the membership
to the magic hundred club. You won't miss out.
But you WILL speed up your results massively.
I promise you.
Pop on over to www.themagichundred.com and
